In 1964, Shelby American launched the FIA Cobra which competed with marque’s such as Aston Martin, Jaguar and Corvette in that year’s World Manufacturers Championship series. Exactly fifty years later, in 2015, celebrating the birth of the FIA Cobra and paying a tribute to the same, the carmaker is going to offer 50 limited-edition continuation (CSX7000) Shelby 289 FIA Cobras.
Each FIA-edition will be draped in the Viking Blue paint scheme as well as racing stripes and roundels as seen on the original racers. The FIA Cobras comes with updates such as widened front and rear fenders, cut-back doors, new dampers, racing wheels, oil cooler scoops, stronger frame and large steel brakes.
The car will feature updated premium black interiors and exclusive anniversary badges. Designed with racing in mind, this special edition Cobra will also come with a detachable steering wheel. A fibreglass or an aluminum body is also on offer.
Each car comes with a complete exhaust system, but due to stricter emission norms, the owner of the 289 is required shoehorn their own small block Ford engine into the engine bay.
Pricing for the fibreglass bodied 50th Anniversary CSX7000 FIA Continuation Cobra starts at Rs 60.10 lakh while the aluminum bodied limited-edition model retails at Rs One crore.
